When it comes to earbuds, there are two must-haves: great audio quality and comfort. Finding that perfect balance that feels good for hours while also helping shut out the world isn’t always easy. The Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds seek to offer both with adaptive sound. I had the pleasure of trying these earbuds out to see just how well they worked.

Overview of Features

The Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds are designed to provide exceptional audio quality while reducing background noise for long-lasting music and calls. The ergonomic design fits partially in the ear, giving a more comfortable fit, even when wearing for long periods of time.

Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds Overview

As with most earbuds, the Tronsmart have a compact charging case. The earbuds themselves can last up to 6.5 hours on one charge, while the case extends this to up to 27 hours. A short USB cable is provided to charge the case.

They’re perfect for an active lifestyle with an IPX5 rating, making them water-, dust- and sweat-proof. Plus, they’re easy to control with simple tap gestures. They’re also compatible with Cortana, Siri, and Google Assistant.

When you need to make calls, the dual mics with cVc 8.0 call reduction pick up your voice and minimize background noise for clearer conversations. The earbuds do this automatically, adjusting to your environment to make it easy to take calls wherever you may be.

The earbuds are made to provide superior sound, thanks to lossless Qualcomm aptX adaptive decoding mixed with customized 13mm composite polymer driver units. You’ll also get a more stable wireless connection, allowing you to stream sound from your devices within a 33 ft. range.

If you’re using them for gaming, turn on Gaming Mode. This is designed to provide better synchronization to provide a smoother experience.

In the Box

The well-packaged Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds come complete with the earbuds, charging case, USB cable (USB-C to USB-A), and instruction manual.

While the earbuds were approximately 60% charged when I received them, it’s recommended to fully charge them in the case before using them for the first time. To fully charge the earbuds, it takes around 1.5 hours, though the case itself needs around two hours to charge completely.

I did run into just one issue. After placing the earbuds in the case, they are difficult to get back out. They’re incredibly slick, making them hard to pull out of the charger. I had to use my fingernails to get them out.

Comfortable Design

After a quick 30-minute charge, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds were ready for their first use. Pairing was quick and easy. The manual says if you have any issues with pairing, press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the case for 10 seconds (while the earbuds are in it). This resets the earbuds and helps resolve most pairing issues. However, mine connected immediately.

There are no silicone pads, just smooth plastic. This made me wonder how comfortable they’d really be for long periods. Most of the time, I need some type of padding to make earbuds comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that the semi-ear design not only fit snuggly – but felt good as well. My ears didn’t hurt at all after wearing the earbuds for several hours in a row.

Another shock was how well they stayed in place when running and working out in my yard. They didn’t really move around at all, even when sweating. I’ve had earbuds with a similar design (different brand) that had a tendency to slide out whenever I’d start to sweat.

Performance

The sound quality was much better than expected. While I’d love to hear a bit fuller bass, it was easy to make out the more subtle nuances of my favorite songs. Overall, I found the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds to have a rich, immersive sound comparable with higher-priced competitors.

Plus, you don’t hear much background noise at all unless it’s really loud or right near your ears. They do a great job of keeping the focus on what you’re listening to.

When it comes to calls, it’s hard to ask for better performance. Not only is it easy to answer a call, but callers hear you and not everything around you. If you often answer calls in louder environments, such as on the street or in a busy office, you’ll appreciate how well these filter out background noises. While they won’t filter out everything, they do a wonderful job at making sure it’s easy for callers to hear you.

I listened to music for two days. I received a low-battery warning after around six hours of listening. They do last surprisingly well. It took around 1.5 hours for them to charge in the case, so that matches up with the specifications.

Throughout my review, I never lost the connection between my phone and the earbuds. I could place my phone in a central location in my backyard and take care of the yardwork without worrying about any glitches in the connection.

The touch controls aren’t overly sensitive, which is a great thing. Simply brushing your hair out of your face won’t make them skip or pause a song. However, they do respond well to touch gestures.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds performed as well, if not better, than advertised. They lasted well, stayed in place, and felt comfortable after wearing for several hours at a time.

Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds Final

The compact case is easy to slip in a pocket to store or charge the earbuds whenever you want. Plus, the earbuds and case charge within a few hours.

My only real complaint is that removing them from the case isn’t easy, but at least they won’t fall out of the case when you open it.

You can try the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earbuds yourself for just $34.79.
